Donald Trump and his family attend Ivana Trump’s funeral in New York City

Donald Trump's first wife, Ivana, was honored Wednesday by their three children at a funeral Mass. It was attended by the businesswoman and icon of 1980s fashion, who helped him create an empire that would propel him to the presidency.

Trump's family announced Thursday the death of the 73-year old at her Manhattan residence. According to R. Couri Hay, a long-time friend, the cause of death was accidental.



Donald Trump And Lvana met in the 1970s. They were married from 1977 until 1992. They were a powerful couple in the 1980s. She became instantly famous with her long, blond hair and glamorous looks. Ivana Trump also participated in husband's businesses. He managed an Atlantic City casino and selected elements for New York City's Trump Tower.

Although their public divorce was not a happy one, they became friends in recent years. Ivana Trump was a passionate supporter of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential election campaign. She said that they spoke regularly. In 2017, she told CBS "Sunday Morning," that her ex-husband still sought her advice, and that they talked about once per week.
